Problem
Live video is great and all, but it’s not very useful if most of your audience doesn’t know when you’re planning on streaming.
Solution
Facebook is addressing that problem by introducing official scheduling feature for live streaming. Users can be notified about videos up to a week in advance!
When you schedule a live video, an announcement post will be published to News Feed letting your fans on Facebook know that the broadcast is coming. People who see the post can opt in to receive a one-time reminder notification that will alert them shortly before your broadcast begins. Your fans can then join a pre-broadcast lobby directly before the live video starts, where they can connect and interact with other viewers.
How do it
In our apps you can do it by few clicks.
Be sure to write an engaging and informative description so your followers know what to expect from your broadcast. You will be able to update the description later if you want to.
You can schedule a live broadcast up to one week in advance, and people can join your lobby three minutes before your broadcast begins.
Result
When you schedule a live video, Facebook will create an announcement post for your followers’ feed with a time for the broadcast. People can then opt in to receive a notification to remind them about the stream shortly before it begins. Moreover, Facebook will open a pre-broadcast chat room for people to begin a discussion before a video begins, adding to the community aspect of live video.
About Timezones
Usually your viewers live in wide world and have different timezone. Don’t worry – Facebooks shows correct time for every timezone.
One announcement post has different time for different timezone viewers.
What is next steps?
Share, share and share your post 🙂 Anyone who presses the “Get Reminder” will receive a notification about your stream.
Once you’ve scheduled a live video, you will be able to share a link to the broadcast or embed it in other places, such as websites or blogs.
Be aware: you can’t boost scheduled live post (but you can create other post with embedded this).
